The Community Pharmacy Forward View focuses on three key roles for the community pharmacy of the future. Many of the service models described in the Forward View are already being delivered in pharmacies across the country, or could be if community pharmacy teams were given the opportunity. Some examples are set out below (click on the headings for more information):
As the facilitator of personalised care for people with long-term conditions
The Community Pharmacy Future (CPF) project helps people with long-term conditions to use their medicines effectively, improves their skills and confidence in managing their health, and enhances overall quality of life.
As the trusted, convenient first port of call for episodic healthcare advice and treatment
Devon’s Pharmacy First scheme offers people walk-in consultations with a healthcare professional, close to their home and outside GP surgery opening hours.
As the neighbourhood health and wellbeing hub
The Priory Pharmacy makes a positive difference in the lives of people in its community, by being proactive about the opportunities for improving health outcomes.
